This artwork, “A Tale of Friendship and Heat,” which came to life in 2023 and now graces the exhibition in Yerevan, Armenia, has a story that’s as vivid as the sculpture itself.
Picture this: a tranquil night on an island in the Persian Gulf, where the warmth of a campfire and the strumming of a guitar set the mood. It’s here that the tale begins. Three adventurous travelers crossed paths with the Saldash and his friends, sharing a common desire to make the most of this island paradise.
Amidst laughter and camaraderie, a Dutch, an Armenian, and a French traveler, each exuding their own unique charm, ignited a friendship that would leave a lasting mark. As night fell, when they ran out of matches, being unable to make a fire, Saldash lent them a lighter, and in return, they invited him and his friends to their campfire.
The connection was immediate, as if they’d known each other for a lifetime.
As the night turned to day, The artist and his newfound friends embarked on a remarkable journey, exploring the island’s hidden gems.
They strolled along sandy shores, took in the island’s wonders, and reveled in its beauty. With each passing moment the joy of discovering new places of that Island grew stronger, Accompanied by a strong presence in the moment, shared laughters.
Finally, they found themselves in a cozy cafe, a place where stories flowed as freely as the coffee. Amidst sips of coffee and shared experiences, they reached a point in their conversation where they couldn’t keep their most treasured story to themselves any longer. It was a tale of three friends, a story so powerful that it inspired this work of art later on.
Here is the story that was shared with me that night.
Once upon a time, in a distant place and a moment lost in the sands of time, there existed a tale of three friends. They were gathered by a flickering bonfire, its warm glow illuminating the night. In the midst of this enchanting ambiance, they wove a tapestry of the most beautiful and heartfelt moments, etching their friendship into the very fabric of the universe.
Their connection was extraordinary, a bond so profound that it seemed to transcend the boundaries of ordinary human experience. In the quiet moments of that starlit night, they collectively whispered a secret wish to mother nature. They wished to stand as a testament to their enduring friendship.
In a magical twist of fate, nature itself responded to their heartfelt desire. The elements, as if touched by the purity of their friendship, bestowed upon them a profound transformation. Slowly, they began to change. The warmth of the bonfire seeped into their very souls, and their bodies began to take on the form of stones.
And so, by the side of that very bonfire where they had once sat as friends, they became stones, a silent testament to the everlasting power of their camaraderie. Their wish had been granted, and they remained there, forever preserved in stone, a reminder that true friendship can withstand the test of time and the trials of nature itself.
After those glorious days of adventure on the island, life’s currents led us down separate paths, and our paths never crossed again. Yet, the memory of those stone friends etched itself deep within my mind, growing more vivid with each passing day. Then, one night, in the realm of dreams, I saw them once more. This dream, a luminous spark, ignited the fire within me.
As I journeyed from one country to another over the course of many years, the statue’s creation remained a steadfast dream as I searched the calm respite required to breathe life into this cherished idea. I never wavered in my commitment, continually searching for a benevolent patron to support this vision.
It took time, dedication, and the careful weaving of plans into a harmonious tapestry. But at last, I pieced together the perfect plan, write down all the supplies and the things needed to build it, Found an art-supporting business as the sponsor of this project, and most important of all, I drew the idea on the paper and began the laborious yet exhilarating journey of giving form to this Dream.
